About Mrs. Tonelli

Hello everyone, I’m Mrs. Tonelli, your language arts teacher for 7th grade. I’ve been teaching since 2002. I started teaching with a 4th grade homeroom and while at that school also taught 4th-8th grade PE and Science. I spent my second and third year teaching a 3rd/4th grade combo class which I loved. It was fun to spend an extra year with half of the same kids. After two years teaching 4th grade, I moved to IL and began teaching at Gompers Junior High in Joliet. I taught a year of 6th grade special education language arts and social studies and a year of 8th grade special education language arts and social studies. I moved to CJHS after that and have been happily teaching 7th grade language arts since. I absolutely love it in Channahon and have no plans to change jobs anytime soon.
I live in Shorewood with my husband, Mike, who is also a teacher. He teaches 5th grade math at W.B. Orenic in the Troy school district. He also really loves his job and we both enjoy having our breaks to travel and hang out together.
I spend most of my freetime playing sports, watching TV, reading, and playing with my pets. I have a 9 year old puppy named Abby who loves to spend time cuddling with us on the couch. Her 9 year old brother, our cat Ricky, also likes to snuggle. They love to play outside in the backyard, too!
The sports I play are volleyball and softball, and I coach 6th grade volleyball at Three Rivers, too. Mike plays volleyball and softball as well, so much of our summer time is spent at the ball fields.
I like TV a lot, maybe too much. Some of my favorite shows include Brothers & Sisters, Psych, Ghost Hunters, Grey’s Anatomy, NCIS and CSI. I’m not a huge fan of the reality shows, but I do like a good drama show!
I love to read and spend most of my reading time trying out new books for junior high aged kids. If you ever need a recommendation, please ask! I’m sure I can find something you’d like!!
I hope this little bio helps you know me a little bit more. I enjoy a comfortable classroom where you can be yourself and I can be me – crazy, silly and all. I hope you always feel open coming to me with any issues or questions. I’ll do my best to help you, or point you in the right direction.
~Mrs. Tonelli :)
